Bar/bat mitzvah programs encourage teens to remember children less fortunate. A donation to an LVL project is a meaningful way to mark your child's celebration. The following are ideas of where any size donation could be directed:
Suggested projects:
1000 ¤ +
- The LVL Toy library and developmental playroom needs to purchase games, computer games and furniture suitable for children with regular and special needs.
- Sponsor a child through our Therapy Assistance Program responding to requests from local families and children referred through "chessed " organizations or the welfare department in Bet Shemesh. These children would otherwise fall through the cracks, while slowly failing in school without intervention such as:
- 1,800 NIS psychological evaluation
- 1,200 NIS didactic evaluation
500 ¤ +
- 750 NIS a month’s psychological treatment
- 300 NIS a month of remedial teaching
¤ 200 - +
- Books for the Mercaz Rakefet library
Those who give a percentage of their money toward the toy library can see the establishment of a long term project in the making.
Ask family and friends to give to LVL in lieu of gifts and let them know what project you are aiming to raise money toward. e.g. Toy Library or sponsoring a child in therapy.
Giving together
If there is more than one friend/family celebration, donate toward the same cause making a more significant contribution. Team up with overseas relatives – get together and donate as a team!
Honor a family member
Sponsor a lecture series – since 2008 we have run community education workshops on the topic of "Coping with children with learning disabilities in their home, school and social environment". Funding for this program has finished but we feel we have just begun. We reached hundreds of people in Ramat/Beit Shemesh and recognize our influence on raising their awareness on child development issues.
Help us continue the task of educating parents and teachers on this and other important issues. Consider dedicating a seminar in honor or in memory of someone close to you and have a positive influence on the lives of those in your community.
Help us "ligdol v'lifroach" overseas
"Aruchat Boker Israelit" is a new overseas fundraising initiative to help us reach the hundreds of children waiting for our help in Israel.
On your next visit overseas, please ask a friend or relative to host a gathering in their regular shiur group, book club, mothers group, play group. Israel is always close to people's hearts – why not suggest they give to an organization close to yours. We will provide a full kit of instructions and a power point presentation to introduce our organization and ask for a minimum donation of $36.00.
Be our representative – share your LVL experience and explain what it would be like for you and your child without our help. If you do not have personal experience with our organization, we're sure you would want to help children in need of therapy and assistance in your own community.
Great gift ideas
If you are thinking of what to buy as a gift, try these subscription suggestions:
Mercaz Rakefet Parenting Library – over 150 books in English and Hebrew specifically on child development issues – parenting, special needs,
ADHD, learning difficulties and more.
Membership is 40 shekels and the recipient will benefit from a year's worth of reading on topics relevant to us all.
Toy Lending Library – is the first of its kind in Bet Shemesh helping families and children learn through the use of toys specifically for:
1. Children in families facing financial constraints who often have few toys at home that meet their developmental needs.
2. Parents of developmentally delayed children where the challenge is even greater. Their children need special toys, which often are more costly and less available.
3. Other parents, who may be able to afford toys, but want to provide a variety of games and toys without buying them.
Membership is 120 shekels and the recipient will benefit from a year's worth of toy/game lending.
